Choosing a CCTV system starts with the basics: how many cameras you need, the area each must cover, and whether you need day-only or 24/7 low-light recording. For most shops and offices, a 4–8 camera setup with a DVR/NVR and a surveillance-grade hard disk is the sweet spot.
Analog (HD-TVI) vs IP
Analog HD cameras with a DVR are cost-effective and simple to wire over coax. IP cameras with an NVR deliver higher resolution, PoE single-cable installs and smart analytics — ideal for larger or multi-site deployments.
Storage matters
Plan roughly 1 TB per 4 cameras for ~2 weeks of continuous recording at 1080p. Always use surveillance-rated drives (WD Purple, Seagate SkyHawk) designed for 24/7 writes.
